Utter Joy

Summer 2012 007

Poem Number 5 NaPoWriMo

Oh, this utter joy,

that fills my very soul,

in the early mornings –

when the birds begin to trill

So hard to contain,

the excitement and wonder,

when nature awakens,

in the wee hours of the morn.

Listening as creatures begin,

to scamper about

and early butterflies –

fill the skies.

To see the sun pop up,

just like a red rubber ball,

erasing the darkness from the sky,

while morning clouds bring in the new day.

Of the early hour rituals,

as flowers open up in greeting,

the dew in glistening pearls,

spread over the grass and leaves.

All through the day,

to be in harmony with nature,

until  the golden afternoon,

brings long shadows.

Soon the twilight haze,

will summon nature to bed,

the quiet of night will slip in

and the symphony of the moon and the stars

will begin.

This utter joy,

will then bring sweet dreams,

while the night sings lullabies,

until the morning sun lights up the sky.
