Song Of the Sea

Cyprus 29.10 - 11.11.07 066

Poem number three NaPoWriMo

Down to the seashore,

I wander,

longing to hear –

the song of the sea.

Waves rushing to shore,

from lands far away,

the whispering of the wind,

as white caps,

top the rippling waves.

There is a certain something,

listening to the song the sea sings,

of special places,

of lighthouses and of castles,

upon craggy hilltops,

always ready to listen to –

the song of the sea.

Somewhere beneath in the deep,

strange creatures live,

perhaps mermaids,

playing among their own castles,

deep down in the sea.

Gathering seashells I can hear,

soft whispers like music,

to my ears.

Long it has been my pleasure,

to think of the sea,

hiding some special treasure

and singing its lovely song to me.

Down by the sea,

is where I long to be,

in a vine-covered cottage,

with roses growing along the path,

where in the mornings I can greet,

the sun as it rises over the sea.

To hear the song it sings,

a beautiful melody,

watch the sun go down,

when the day is done,

see the sea turn to silver,

beneath the light of the moon,

dream of all that can be,

while listening to –

the song of the sea.
