The Magic of Love Can Fade

piano keyboards

Poem number 15 NaPoWriMo

She never listened when they told her

but she heard it over and over again

when he took her hand she looked away

kisses were fleeting

mild embraces a thing of the past

she didn’t listen when they told her

love has a certain magic

that must be sparked each time

she didn’t listen but said that the love had died

it was her biggest mistake

because the sky rockets, the passion and the fire

were still there within reach

it wasn’t love that had died

it was the magic that had gone away

for fairy castles that are built on clouds

not even the rain takes away

come out the rainbows

and dreams still glisten

she should have listened when they told her

love if it is true

will always be there for you

you need to uphold the magic

make each day a surprise

when he reaches for you

make sure the magic is ignited

because love when it’s real

never dies

it’s the magic that fades

and drifts away with time
