Life’s a Carnival

Riga Holidays 031

Poem number 10 NaPoWriMo

What are those flashing lights?

bright colors everywhere

music playing in my ears

everyday people rushing

to and fro

like in some movie

in fast forward mode

Life’s a carnival

it’s quite an adventure

if we don’t let it

get to us

we can enjoy the show

we are the participants

the puppets on a string

that play and act

on life’s great stage

Life’s a carnival

happy at times

and scary too

we come and go

through many doors

leaving a bit of us behind

as we go on

many memories remain

Life’s a carnival

something new

and something to enjoy everyday

Life’s a carnival

so it’s no wonder

that there are so many

clowns all around

with smiling faces

but no light shining from their eyes

Life’s a carnival

that teaches us right from wrong

knowing we can trust in friends and family

sharing smiles from day to day

in each and every way

if you live it right

life can be a virtual spree

  1. Life is indeed a carnival, but I have always been scared of, or saddened by clowns.
