That Magical Time

Spring moon

What do we really remember?

What do we really know?

Are the voices that call us

really voices from the past?

Maybe it was so, maybe it only seemed that way

we were all so enchanted once so long ago

like the emotions we feel when spring is in the air

as the ice in the rivers starts to break apart

and we hear song birds in the trees

It may just have been a fantasy

but everything seemed so new and so wonderful

even the pavement in the city

seemed that it could bloom

as the perfume of newly sprung flowers

filled the air and made us dizzy

We went forth dancing along

friends full of life and for evermore

exchanging smiles and exuberance

life was so full of surprises

and it seemed to shine

radiating in all of the colors of the rainbow

Perhaps it was so, perhaps it seemed that way

the road beneath our feet

was still unsure and unexplored

round every corner was an adventure

and we were filled with a new zest for life

each and every spring

like so many butterflies

that fly high into the skies

It was a time so full of love

we shared it so very fondly

nothing could stand in our way

as friends we knew

that upon one another we could rely

it was a time that we built castles in the clouds

Now I look upon

that magical time

it lingers there among my souvenirs

among my photos

and as I see you all there smiling at me

I have to smile too

while silver tears come raining down

forever to have

these precious memories
